ORGANISERS have confirmed that tonight's big Witton Park bonfire and fireworks display in Blackburn is to go ahead despite downpours.
Norman Walker, from the Blackburn Lions, said the fundraising event will take place as expected.
More than 15,000 people are expected.
Organiser Norman Walker, speaking this morning, said: "The ground is still quite firm so it shouldn't be a problem.
"For some reason there is a rumour going around that it has been cancelled but that is not true. We are looking forward to a great event tonight."
This year three charities will benefit from the event - NSPCC, Derian House and Blackburn carers.
The event is organised by Blackburn Lions in conjunction with Rotary and Round Table groups.
Gates will open at 5.30pm, the bonfire will be lit at 7.30pm and fireworks will start at 8pm. Entry, by donation, is £1 for adults and 50p for children.
