DETECTIVES investigating the murder of a 24-year-old Blackburn man think further clues may lie in the Zion Road area of Little Harwood.
Police have renewed their appeal for information from the community about the horrific stabbing of Saheel Ahmed at 1.50am last Tuesday, June 22.
In particular, they want to hear from people who may have seen or heard anybody acting suspiciously in Zion Road, between 12.45am and 1.40am that same morning.
It is believed Mr Ahmed had been chased by another man from Zion Road along Providence Street to the alley at the top of Warrington Street where his body was discovered.
Police had been called to a report of a disturbance.
Police say the motive for the attack is still unclear.
They have taken the unusual step of naming suspect Naeem Majid Butt, 37, from Blackburn.
Detective Chief Inspector Mark Gray, from the Force Major Investigation Team, said: "I would ask people who live in the Zion Road area to cast their minds back to last Tuesday.
"I appreciate it was the very early hours of the morning, but did you see or hear anybody acting suspiciously between 12.45am and 1.40am?
“What may seem insignificant could turn out to be crucial to this investigation so I would urge anybody who thinks they may have any information which could help with this inquiry to contact police."
