POLICE are bidding to close a house after a string of complaints from neighbours.
Residents told officers they would ‘hold a street party’ if the terrace, in Monmouth Road, Intack, Blackburn, was shut.
Lancashire Police have applied for an Anti-Social Behaviour closure order against resident Anne Marie Gallagher, who was not at home when it was served yesterday.
A notice of the closure bid was posted on the door.
Blackburn Magistrates’ Court will decide tomorrow whether to grant the order.
South East Blackburn Neighbourhood Policing Sergeant Mark Cruise said landlord Twin Valley Homes supported the bid.
Things had not improved at the house since a drugs raid earlier this year, he said, and there had been recent complaints about anti-social behaviour.
He said: “It has been highlighted to us as a problem address and it can’t go on.
"Residents of Monmouth Road need a break, and this is our way of giving it to them.”
If the order is granted, the house will be shut down for the next three months.
