TWO men are being held on suspicion of killing a Blackburn man, as detectives confirmed they are treating David McGee’s death as murder.
The 34-year-old and 33-year-old were being quizzed by police last night on suspicion of murder following the stabbing of Mr McGee at his home in Grindleton Road, Blackburn.
Both suspects are from the town.
A post-mortem examination revealed that Mr McGee was killed by a single stab wound to the abdomen.
Mr McGee was unemployed and had lived at addresses across East Lancashire including Bacup, where he has some family.
Police are renewing their appeals for information from the public.
Detective Superintendent Neil Hunter said: “Our investigation has moved forward over the past 24 hours and we have now been able to formally identify the victim and arrest these two people.
“However, I am still keen to speak with anybody that has visited or been inside 32 Grindleton Road over the last few weeks.
"I am also trying to build up a picture of David McGee and his associates so I would ask anybody that has information that could help us with our enquiry to please come forward.”
A neighbour called police at 10.40pm on Tuesday to report hearing a disturbance and several loud bangs from the house.
Detectives said there had been 'frequent visitors' to the house on Tuesday night and appealed for witnesses to come forward.
Today searches continued at the street and there were cordons still in place at the site.
Anybody with information about the incident can contact Lancashire police on 0845 125 3545 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
