A 15-YEAR-OLD boy has been charged with threatening to kill a teacher in an alleged £30,000 plot.
Police said the boy had been charged with making a bomb hoax and making threats to kill a teacher at Witton Park School, Buncer Lane, Blackburn.
Officers said the charges related to an email, sent to school headteacher Gwen Onyon at 10pm on Thursday, January 15, which made a threat that unless the cash was paid a teacher would be killed.
Police said the email also made claims about a bomb in the school grounds.
The message was discovered by staff the following morning.
They contacted police, who said they quickly established there was no danger to them, or pupils, and the school opened as normal.
The boy, who is from Blackburn and cannot be named for legal reasons, will appear at Blackburn Youth Court on Thursday.
In an earlier statement, Mrs Onyon said: “Witton Park High School received an anonymous email which was reported to the police.
"After being reassured by police that it was safe to remain open, the school day continued as normal.
"The school cannot comment any further while an investigation is underway.”
