INNOVATIVE youngsters used pedal power instead of electricity to create the perfect smoothie.
Year 8 pupils from Witton Park High School Business and Enterprise College proved science, technology, engineering and maths can be fun and interesting during a Cycle a Smoothie initiative.
Staff organised the day as part of a new Government drive to get youngsters interested in the subjects.
Students at the Blackburn school rode a static bike to power a smoothie maker instead of using electricity, learnt about nutrition, and worked on how to design and market the product.
Teacher Raj Singh said: “The children loved every part of the day.
“They were all very positive about the activities.
“It is important to give the children an opportunity to think and work creatively.”
