POLICE are continuing their inquiries into a ‘well-planned’ security van robbery.
A gang targeted a white Sunwin cash-in-transit vehicle as it made a delivery to a Co-operative store in St Stephen’s Avenue, Little Harwood, Blackburn, on Friday morning.
The robbers pounced at 7.40am, grabbing the security guard before fleeing with an unknown quantity of cash.
The gang left the scene in a black BMW 5 Series saloon and travelled back on to Whalley Old road and towards Whitebirk Road.
In Croft Head Road, they switched into an Audi A4 with the registration PY05 LWJ and headed towards the M65, police said.
Detective Sergeant Duncan Whitehead, of Blackburn CID, said: “We are still keen to hear from anybody who may have seen the black BMW or the silver Audi.
“We are still pursuing leads and working closely with the security firm. There have been no arrests.
“The security guard is physically unhurt, the level of violence used was minimal.”
