OPPONENTS of the gating of an alleyway have vowed to fight on despite the plans being given the green light.
Last week Blackburn with Darwen Council approved plans to put a gate on the ginnel between Brownlow Street and Tarbert Crescent, Shadsworth, after police said it was a magnet for anti-social behaviour and vandalism.
Only residents needing access to their homes will be given a key.
Some residents presented a petition to the town hall calling for the move after complaining about years of problems with yobs.
But a rival petition was also submitted claiming the alleyway was a vital through route.
Tarbert Crescent resident Mark Pearce said he was looking at ways to challenge the decision taken by the ruling executive board on Thursday night including getting councillors to agree to hold a new debate into the plans.
