THE X Factor did not breach broadcasting rules over the way the competition was conducted, Ofcom has ruled.
The regulator received 944 complaints from viewers over last year’s ITV talent show, in which East Lancashire’s Diana Vickers reached the semi final.
Complaints included not being able to get through to vote and others centred on a voting recap when the number allocated to Ruth Lorenzo was incorrect.
Some also complained that Diana was automatically put through despite being too ill to perform.
But Ofcom said there were no “shortcomings in the series design, editorial judgment or administrative and technical arrangements”.
