DIANA Vickers is said to have landed a lucrative recording contract.
Accrington girl Diana, 17, has apparently chosen RCA, the label that Take That first found success with and fellow X Factor star Eoghan Quigg is signed to.
During the ITV talent contest, Gary Barlow was so impressed with Diana’s quirky voice that he offered her a contract should she not win, but it seems Diana has chosen not to follow up this interest.
She is reported to have signed with RCA, a label in the Sony BMG group.
The group portfolio reads as a who’s who of the music industry, with artists such as ABBA, Beyonce, Britney Spears and Michael Jackson on its books.
When approached by the Lancashire Telegraph about any deal, Diana’s mum, Ann, and dad, Eddie, as well as her manager, refused to confirm or deny the reports.
Her manager added: “We can’t say anything at the moment, but as soon as we can, we’ll let everyone know.”
This month Diana, who studied at Westholme School, Blackburn, moved to London to concentrate on writing songs and further her career.
Diana, who reached the semi- final of the show, said that she wanted to write songs like Hallelujah, which was released by eventual winner Alexandra Burke and also sung by Diana at the bootcamp stage.
Speaking on New Year’s Day of her plans for 2009, she said: “I want to put everything into my career so that at the next New Year countdown I can look back and know I have achieved everything I could.
“I hope to spend the next couple of years working in music and really explor-ing different music genres.
“I want to move to London and meet amaz-ing people and one day release an album with my own songs that I have put my blood, sweat and tears into.”
Simon Cowell’s label Syco, which is also part of Sony BMG, is reported to have decided against sign-ing Diana.
