X Factor finalist Diana Vickers has confessed she sometimes regrets auditioning for the show.
The teenage singer - who is tipped to win the show - has had to move down to London, away from her family in East Lancashire, been thrown into the spotlight and subjected to regular grillings from judges Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh.
Vickers admitted: “It is hard. Sometimes I do think I’m 17 and there’s so much pressure anyway growing up.
"Now I’m growing up in the public eye and something bad will be said about me and think ‘why did I do this?’ ”But that will last for literally five minutes and I get over it.
"Then I’m on stage on the Saturday night and all this amazing stuff happens and everything is worth it.”
Vickers - who came under fire from some viewers for getting a free pass though one round of the show when she was suffering from laryngitis - revealed she has turned to a self-help book recommended to her by X Factor reject Laura White.
Vickers said: “I’m reading a book called The Secret and it’s all about positive thinking.
”It’s about saying if you want something so much you can’t say I don’t want this to happen.
"I can’t be like ‘I don’t want to go home this week’ because I’m thinking negative thoughts.
”This is my little philosophy, it will happen because I’m thinking it.
"People are like magnets and will attract anything from the world around them.
"So I keep thinking ‘I want to stay this week, I want to stay’ and hopefully I will.
”Laura was reading it. She didn’t really live by it though!
"She was a bit of a worrier like me. She said I haven’t finished it yet but you should read it.”
