A COMMUNITY centre has been given a new lease of life by a team of volunteers.
The young helpers, working through a Prince's Trust project, painted the main hall and entrance area of Little Harwood Community Centre with support from Lanca-shire Fire and Rescue.
The Prince’s Trust is a 12- week programme for people aged 16-25 not in education or employment.
The fire and rescue service has been running the team building programme for a number of years. The community project is part of the programme and runs for two weeks.
Young people raised funds through packing bags at Tesco, and persuaded local businesses to donate decorating materials, including paint, rollers and dust sheets.
Participants were awarded a Prince’s Trust and key skills certificate.
Blackburn mayor Coun Mohammed Khan said: “I would like to thank the young volunteers for decorating Little Harwood Community Centre, but also for how they worked together to raise the funds and equipment to complete the project.”
