A NEGLECTED footpath has been transformed by a team of workers on probation.
The path, off Beardwood Brow, Beardwood, was worked on by teams of four or five ‘low-risk offenders’ serving community service orders over two weeks.
The offenders, all from the Blackburn with Darwen area, cut back trees lining the path, took off the top layer, relaid the material and used a compounder to finish the job.
David Luke from the Probation Service, who supervised the work said: “We put notices up saying who the lads were and what they were doing and we had a lot of positive reaction from the community.”
The scheme was funded by a partnership with Capita and the Probation Service.
