A MAJOR new housing complex in Blackburn is set to get the go-ahead tonight.
Plans have been submitted for 74 houses and 38 apartments on land between Haslingden Road and Old Bank Lane.
The former landfill site is next to Royal Blackburn Hospital and the KFC takeaway.
A neighbouring company, Blackburn Yarn Dryers Ltd, has objected to the plans, fearing residents would complain about noise from the company's machines.
Councillors will vote tonight on the plans, which have been submitted by Burnley-based McDermott Developments.
Blackburn with Darwen planning officers have recommended the scheme is approved, claiming it has been designed in keeping with its surroundings.
