A GRANDMOTHER is looking for intrepid teams to take part in an "It's A Knockout" event to raise money for Royal Blackburn Hospital.
Margaret Eastwood, of Fore Street, Lower Darwen, is organising the wacky water event at Witton Park on July 26, to raise cash for the hospital's special care baby unit (SCBU), where she used to work as a domestic supervisor.
Miss Eastwood, who now works as a carer in Blackburn and Darwen, said: "I worked at the SCBU 14 years ago, and ever since I always wanted to do something to help them.
"Recently I became a grandma for the first time, and it spurred me on to get something organised."
She has already booked the park for the event, based on the hit 1970s TV game show where teams had to attempt stunts such as water slides, bungee runs, and turntables wearing huge costumes, and now is looking for 11 teams of 10 to take part.
Each team member will need to raise £80 in sponsorship to take part, as at least £5,000 needs to be raised to cover costs.
Miss Eastwood, 41, who has four sons and a daughter, says the event will be the first of many fund-raisers she has planned.
"I''m going to set up a registered charity called Generation Fund, to help people of all ages, from older people with disabilities, to helping kids get off the street."
