A BLACKBURN doctor has been given planning permission for an extension and free-standing gym for a house used as a home for adults with mental health problems.
The addition will be used by five residents with formal diagnosis of moderate to severe autism, learning disability or mental health problems and who require personal and social care and support.
Blackburn with Darwen Planning Committee approved the scheme for the property in Vincent Court, Ewood.
The application by Dr Imran Ali was a scaled down version of a similar one with two extensions rather than one previously refused by councillors in May.
It was granted planning permission despite a petition signed by six residents worried about bin collections, parking and traffic.
Permission was granted subject to a condition that the facilities were available to residents from within the borough.
