HUNDREDS of trees have been planted in Witton Country Park, Blackburn, by people on community service orders as part of National Tree Week.
Lancashire Probation Service supervised the planting of hazel and gelder rose saplings across the park.
It was the culmination of a project to gain the park the prestigious green flag status. Lancashire Probation Service began working with Blackburn with Darwen Council four years ago to carry out conservation work at the park.
Since then, hundreds of people serving community orders under probation supervision, have put in hours of unpaid work.
