THE winners of last year's Lancashire Telegraph model competition have told how it put them on the road to success.

They spoke out as we launched 'Have You Got The Look? 2007'.

Ikrash Darr, 22, known as Iky, and Sarah-Jayne Lincoln, 20, were crowned winners last October. And it has been a whirlwind year for the pair as they have juggled demanding university courses with modelling auditions.

Sarah-Jayne, a nursing student at Sheffield Hallam University, appeared on television last year as an extra in ITV1 drama Bonkers with Liza Tarbuck.

And Iky has been called across the country to attend auditions including an advert for ghd, a beauty and hair care products brand, in Manchester.

Iky and Sarah-Jayne were two of 20 finalists chosen by Lancashire Telegraph readers from more than 200 entrants.

Iky, of Livingstone Road, Witton, Blackburn, won the male top model category and Sarah-Jayne won the female top model prize - despite having no modelling experience.

Their prizes included a modelling representation from Eurokids and Adults Intern-ational modelling agency.

Iky said: "After I had won the competition I had to travel to the agency in Warrington to have some professional pictures taken.

"Studying is my priority, but if it wasn't I would have taken full advantage of the jobs they were offering me.

"They have been ringing me quite often through the year.

"I've been asked to go to Cardiff, Manchester and Liverpool for auditions and even had an offer to be the new face of Bacardi."

Sarah-Jayne, of Park Farm Road, Feniscowles, said: "I went down to Liverpool from college when they were filming Bonkers after I'd finished university.

"I was also a model for a fashion boutique, Unique Boutique, based in Manchester. Modelling has boosted my confidence but I haven't done as much as I would have liked. If I was offered an amazing modelling contract I would consider it."

Iky added: "It is a great opportunity for anyone wanting to get into modelling."

Run in association with The Mall, Blackburn, we are again looking for a male and female who will each win a two-year modelling contract from EKA Model Management, a portfolio of photographs, £100 cash courtesy of The Portrait Group and an outfit worth £100 courtesy of The Mall.

Look in your Lancashire Telegraph next week for details of how to enter and you could be on TV or offered modelling contracts just as Iky and Sarah Jayne did last year.

Photographs will be taken free of charge in The Mall, for two weeks from next Tuesday.
