A TWO-DAY clean up operation was undertaken to clean up drains and gullies in Shear Brow.
Residents and locally elected representatives also helped out in the community operation, which successfully cleaned up several streets.
Workers were joined by councillors Suleman Khonat and Akhtar Hussain cleaning gullies on Oozebooth terrace area.
The clean up was very successful and it is hoped it will relieve localised standing water and flooding problems in the area.
Cllr Akhtar Hussain said: “It was a real community effort and everyone worked so hard.
“It was a two-day gully cleaning programme, which went very successful.
“It was difficult at times as all gullies were rock solid frozen and had to dig deep.
“But we were pleased with the outcome after all the hard work from people.
“Our appreciation goes to Tracey True Community Officer and the cleaning team, as well as Ronnie and Mark who were all brilliant.”
Similar operations are planned for other areas of the Shear Brow region in the coming weeks.
