A SHED was destroyed by a fire that broke out at an allotment site in Little Harwood.
The blaze tore through the large wooden shed, which was situated just off Phillips Road beside two chicken coops.
It was spotted by a passer-by, who called 999 at 11.45am on Saturday.
Firefighters from Blackburn used two hose reels to tackle the fire, which had caught hold by the time they arrived at the scene.
A fire service spokesman said an investigation found the fire was caused accidentally.
He said: “A log burner had been left on. The owner thought it was out when he left, but an investigation found the fire began around the log burner.
“One of the legs was broken, so when the owner shut the door, it moved and fell on the floor.”
The charred remains of the shed and its contents, which included a gas canister, remained scattered across the ground yesterday.
A man at the site confirmed there had been a fire but declined to comment further.
