A TEENAGE girl grabbed by a man after she got off a bus was sexually assaulted, police have revealed.

The Lancashire Telegraph reported on Monday how a 16-year-old was attacked close to Blackburn’s Ewood Park.

Detectives said the man pulled the girl into bushes off Jack Walker Way, near the Fernhurst pub. When she shouted for help, the man became abusive and aggressive and tried to pull up her dress before punching her in the face.

Her attacker was white, in his late 20s or early 30s, between 5ft 9ins and 5ft 11ins and of a medium, strong build.

He had a bald or shaven head, with stubble and was wearing a dark, long sleeved Umbro top with a white logo in the centre and dark trousers.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the attack, which happened around 7pm on Friday.

They are keen to speak to a woman, seen by the victim walking a white dog along Jack Walker Way.

Det Insp Claire Holbrook said: “The victim is a very brave young lady who fought well against the attacker. She has provided us with a good description and my officers and I will work tirelessly to bring this man to justice.

“We are reviewing a vast array of CCTV, have conducted house-to-house inquiries and are undertaking forensic work.

“If the offender reads this, I suggest he immediately contacts the police.”
