THE fish in Witton Country Park, Blackburn, were moved yesterday so a £27,000 litter trap could be installed.
The trap in the River Darwen is the first of its kind in the UK, although similar devices operate on the river Thames and the Tyne, and aims to trap litter dropped by fly-tippers and litterbugs.
To install the litter traps parts of the River Darwen was drained for safety and to prevent damage before being refilled later in the day.
