ANOTHER Olympic legacy totalling £150,000 has been unveiled for East Lancashire by Sport England.
Three clubs across the area will share in a £20million Inspired Facilities scheme handout for the region.
Pendle MP Andrew Stephenson has welcomed a £49,440 grant for Nelson and Colne Rugby Union Club to refurbish their Holt House ground’s changing rooms.
He said: “I supported their bid to Sport England and was delighted for Chris Buck and all the team at Holt House when I heard the news. This will provide a real lasting legacy of the Olympics for Colne and the surrounding area.”
The work will enable male, female and junior sides to use the changing rooms, and develop a cardio-vascular studio and general fitness area.
In the wake of Wimbledon, Burnley Tennis Club will also use a £50,000 award to update the Lower Ridge Close centre.
The cash will also be used to promote the club within the community and open it up to voluntary groups across the borough.
And Read Cricket and Bowling Club is benefiting to the tune of £50,000, to provide separate changing and showering facilities at their Whalley Road ground.
The funding will also cover a new secure machine store, disabled facilities and a club room for crown green bowlers.
Earlier this year East Lancashire received £200,000 in the first round of Inspired Facilities grants. This was donated to Accrington Cricket and Tennis Club, for three new tennis courts and floodlighting.
Hyndburn Council used the bulk of the legacy to improve drainage and create new pitches at Higham Playing Fields.
