SUSPICIOUS activity and vehicles near Moorfield Industrial Estate are being monitored closely by police.

The issue has become a priority for neighbourhood police after residents raised the issue at the latest Altham and Clayton-le-Moors PACT meeting.

Residents also raised concerns that the Atlas Street junction with Read Street was being used as a rat run, and cars are not taking notice of ‘give way’ and ‘one way’ signs.

Police at the meeting also warned property owners to ensure vehicles and homes were secure at all times to prevent theft.

In Clayton-le-Moors, an increased police presence has been visible in Arthur Street and Queen Street throughout April due to anti-social behaviour on these streets.

Other priorities include monitoring youths cycling on the pavements and using scooters near Barnes Square and Pickup Street and an increased police presence at Mercer Park during April due to damage during renovation in the park.

The next PACT meeting for the area will be at The Annex in Barnes Square, Clayton-le-Moors on May 2 at 5.30pm.
