A 26-YEAR-OLD Blackburn man appeared in court charged with causing the death of a pensioner by dangerous driving.
Safvan Patel, of East Park Road, appeared to confirm his name and address at Bolton Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
He is also charged with causing the death by driving a car other than in accordance with his licence.
Jack Hindley, 61, died after being struck by a silver Vauxhall Vectra as he crossed the road in Moor Lane, Bolton, on Saturday, June 6, last year, at 11.45pm.
He had just left The Albion pub when he was run over.
He had been drinking in The Griffin pub earlier that night.
Mr Hindley, who lived in a flat in Bromwich Street, The Haulgh, Bolton, was walking on crutches after having an operation on his foot some years ago.
Patel’s court case was adjourned.
He was bailed and will appear at Bolton Crown Court on Friday, August 3.
