HEALTH bosses in East Lancashire are asking for people’s help in shaping the future of the local NHS services amid cost cutting.

Doctors in East Lancashire have launched a public consultation on their plans for delivering local health services.

Dr Mike Ions, chair of the Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) and GP at Brierfield, said: “The purpose of this plan is to communicate our key priorities in improving health services and outcomes for patients over the next three to five years with what money and other resources we have available.

“Our intention is that GP practices, partners, patients and the public will help us to shape the direction what the CCG is trying to achieve.

“We know we face major challenges in tackling the significant levels of health inequalities and poor health outcomes in East Lancashire but continuing with the strong record of partnership working that already exists, our vision is to commission high quality, safe and effective health services that meet patients’ needs and improve the health of the population we serve.”

The CCG will take over the responsibility of commissioning (buying) most local health services from East Lancashire Primary Care Trust when it is abolished next March.
