A POLICE officer was bitten by a drunken man after being called to a disturbance at 9.25am in Knuzden.

Blackburn magistrates heard Joel Edward Patterson was one of three men who became abusive when officers attended to deal with the incident.

And the court was told a woman walking past covered her child’s ears and expressed her disgust at the foul language being used by the trio.

Patterson, 21, of Edward Street, Rishton, pleaded guilty to assaulting a police officer and being drunk and disorderly.

He was remanded on bail for the preparation of a pre-sentence report.
