EPIC stories depicting the lives of four members of one of Burnley’s historic Towneley family have been produced into a film.
The Friends of Towneley Park have made a DVD which invites people to look back through the centuries to learn about Charles, Richard, Francis and Peregrine, whose family resided at the hall since the 1200s.
They were all involved in pivotal moments in British history such as the Battle of Marston Moor and the Jacobite Revolution.
The film was shot by a vice chairma of the ‘friends’ group Roger Leach, 70, from Duke Bar, who has been a keen film maker since he attended night classes in 1990.
The stories, shot in the hall and at the Inn at Whitewell, are told by Simon Entwistle, who dons period costume for the film.
Roger, said: “There is so much of interest with the family and the stories we researched are amazing.
“It was an enjoyable experience and we had lots of help from other organisations in Burnley.
“The pantomime society provided the costumes and Ken Darwen and the staff at Towneley Hall were fantastic.”
The group will be launching and selling the DVD, priced £5, at Towneley Hall on Bank Holiday Monday May 7 from 11am.
