FOUR people have been arrested following a series of moorland fires near Chorley.
Arsonists struck on Anglezarke and The Nab at around 4pm yesterday (Wednesday).
Road closures were put in place for around two hours until the fire was brought under control.
Det Insp John Roy of South Ribble CID said: “This is an extremely serious matter but thankfully nobody has been hurt.
"The investigation is ongoing into the circumstances of these fires and the police are working closely with Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service.
“Given the recent spell of good weather, it is likely to have been a busy day at this local beauty spot and so we would appeal to anybody who was in the area yesterday afternoon and may have seen anything at all suspicious to come forward and contact us.”
