MORE than 350 people who tackled Burnley’s Sport Relief course have been thanked by a borough leisure chief.
Dozens descended on Queens Park to tackle the one, three or six-mile slog around the venue on Sunday.
And from serious athletes to ‘hotdogs’ and ‘tree surgeons’, the effort is thought to have raised thousands of pounds for the appeal.
Darren Wright, the council’s senior sports development officer, said: “It was a fantastic day. Watching the community come together to support such a great cause was brilliant.
“We feel very proud knowing the money raised here today will help people living unimaginably tough lives right here in Burnley and across the rest of the UK and in some of the world’s poorest countries.”
