A TEENAGE 'good Samaritan' was punched in the face after stepping in to break up an argument at Blackburn Train Station.
The 16-year-old girl, from Blackburn, was attacked at 4.15pm - a busy time on the platform.
The victim saw a young woman who appeared to be upset and an older woman shouting at her when she arrived at the station.
She stepped in when she saw the older woman hitting the younger woman and, as she did, she was hit in the face by the older woman.
The two women then left the station. It is believed that the two women arguing may have been related.
British Transport Police are now urging the public to come forward with information about the incident, and the identity of the two women. The incident happebned on Tuesday, March 20.
PC John Phillips, investigating officer, said: “This was a nasty attack on a young girl who was simply trying to step in to prevent further violence; instead she was met with a punch in the face for her efforts.
"Police have carried out a number of enquiries including viewing CCTV in and around the station and speaking to witnesses who saw the attack."
Anyone with information is asked to contact British Transport Police on 0800 40 50 40 or contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
