A FORMER cotton weaver has celebrated her 100th birthday with a family party.
Amelia Nightingale, who lives at St James House, Darwen, attributed her good health to a ‘positive and humourous outlook on life’.
She spent the day celebrating with her family, with her daughter even flying over from Australia to celebrate this momentous occasion. Amelia, known as Milly, who is originally from Cheshire, had worked as a cotton weaver.
She said that in recent years she has ‘lost count’ of the number of grandchildren and great grandchildren she has.
She said: “I have always taken things as they come, and tried my best.”
She said enjoys spending her time reading newspapers, in particular the Lancashire Telegraph which she believes, “is the best one about”.
