A CONTROVERSIAL scheme to build more than 50 new houses on the Silentnight site in Salterforth is set to be approved.
Residents and councillors have campaigned against the scheme, which they claim would “totally change the village”.
But planning officers at Pendle Council are recommending the scheme be approved at the West Craven Committee meeting on Tuesday.
The plan would see 51 three and four-bedroom houses built, with a 20-space car park provided for the rest of the village.
As well as objections from the parish council, 22 local residents also wrote to the council to object to the plans.
But Kathryn Hughes, principal planning officer at Pendle Council, said: “The proposed housing scheme for 51 units is acceptable in terms of highway safety and parking provision, and would not adversely impact on residential amenity.”
