A VOLUNTEER sports coach from Pendle has landed the opportunity to work for one of the world’s biggest companies at the Olympics in London.
Arianna Sachet, 18, will be an apprentice for drinks giants Coca-Cola for four weeks during this summer’s Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The student from Foulridge will hand out drinks at Olympic venues to visitors, journalists and officials as part of the company’s Venue Operations team.
Arianna, who studies health and social care at Nelson and Colne College, said: “I can’t wait for it to start.
“Actually being a part of the largest event in the world will be amazing and it’s going to make the whole experience feel even more real.
“I wanted to be involved in some way with the Olympics and this will be an amazing opportunity.”
Arianna had to go through a selection process run by Coca-Cola’s charity partner Street Games before joining other volunteers in the role.
She got to see the Olympic Park first-hand last week when she was given the good news about the apprenticeship by Apprentice star Nick Hewer.
She said: “I have been volunteering since I was about 13, I have helped do gymnastic classes and coached at sports clubs for disabled people.
“I really enjoy volunteering and it is a great way to get involved in the community.
“I will be in London for four weeks and it will be the first time I have been away from home for that long, but it will be a great experience.”
Jon Woods, general manager at Coca-Cola Great Britain and Ireland, said: “This work experience programme is a great way to help these young and very deserving people build a positive future for themselves and their communities.
“We look forward to Arianna coming on board to work as part of our team refreshing the Games.”
