RIBBLE Valley MP Nigel Evans has stressed the ‘vital role’ BAE Systems plays in East Lancashire to the Prime Minister.
Mr Evans and other MPs yesterday urged David Cameron to back a bid to supply the Indian government with 126 Eurofighter Typhoon jets, which would be partly assembled at Samlesbury and Warton, safeguarding hundreds of jobs.
A French firm called Dassault has been chosen as the preferred bidder.
He said: “BAE plays a vital role in a number of our constituencies.
“During the meeting I was able to impress upon the Prime Minster the importance of BAE to Lancashire and how important it is that we do all we can to assist BAE Systems win international contracts.”
