A RIBBLE VALLEY pub will be the first to hold a special event celebrating locally sourced produce.
The Millstone, in Church Lane, Mellor has been selected to host the Taste Lancashire Produce evening because of the variety of local products featured on its menu.
And diners will be able to meet local producers at the event.
The restaurant’s chef, Danny Holder, who was born in Darwen, has created the three-course menu inspired by locally sourced ingredients.
Guests will also have the opportunity to meet one of the producers who has contributed to the menu.
Featured on the menu are Goosnargh Duck, twiced baked Carron Lodge Lancashire cheese and spinach soufflé and Curwin Hill pork cheek pudding.
This is the first in a series of events organised by the Lancashire and Blackpool Tourist Board designed to showcase the great selection of produce available from across Lancashire as well as the talent and creativity of the region’s chefs.
Three more Taste Lancashire events will also be held before the end of July, at the Sparrowhawk in Fence, Twelve Restaurant in Thornton-Cleveleys and the Redwell Inn in Carnforth.
The Millstone’s chef-patron, Anson Bolton, said: “Danny’s menu expresses his real passion for food and for creating new dishes.
“He has a special gift for desserts but Danny has utilised all The Millstone’s local suppliers and created a menu that is seasonal, inspiring and Lancashire through and through.
“I’m sure diners will enjoy the tourist board’s new Taste Lancashire produce events and the opportunity to meet some of the county’s great food heroes, who nurture or grow our unbeatable Lancashire produce.”
The event will be held on 23 February and costs £20.
Diners can book their place by calling the Millstone on 01254 813333.
