A FORMER footballer for an East Lancashire side is turning fearless fundraiser to raise vital cash for a north-west hospital.
Ex-winger Matthew Edgington’s life was turned upside down when he was seriously injured in a Manchester city centre attack in November 2009.
But the former Ramsbottom United flier has amazed family and friends with his determination to recover from the major setback.
Now Matthew is planning to take part in a reverse bungee jump, at The Lock Keeper pub in Radcliffe on Sunday, February 19.
He is aiming to collect cash for Christie’s Hospital in Manchester and club supporters and well-wishers are being asked to donate via the fans forum section of The Rams website.
Matthew, who earned international honours with the England visually-impaired team, was forced to give up the 11-a-side game late last year.
He suffers from epilepsy and has impaired sight in one eye.
But he still continues to enjoy five and six-a-side contests.
He has also given up his time to speak with other patients who have suffered brain injuries at Salford Royal Hospital, where he was treated.
