CHRIS Samba is a doubt for tomorrow afternoon’s Premier League visit of Fulham after missing Blackburn Rovers’ training today.

The Rovers skipper is understood to have phoned in ill this morning, just 24 hours after he was reported in a French newspaper saying he was ready to quit Ewood for a more ambitious club.

Rovers boss Steve Kean had planned to quiz Samba about his comments today but it is unknown whether talks were held after Samba’s no show at Brockhall.

Samba’s Rovers future continues to be shrouded in uncertainty despite the club categorically stating the giant defender is ‘not for sale’.

Queens Park Rangers have already had two bids rejected for Samba and, with his former boss Mark Hughes now in charge, are expected to come back in for him.

Tottenham Hostpur are also closely monitoring Samba’s situation and with Harry Redknapp having already voiced his admiration of the defender, are expected to make their bid imminently.

Samba signed a new four and half year deal with Rovers last year and is considered a key player in the club’s battle to survive the dreaded drop.

While every player has his price, it is understood it would take a bid of in excess of £12million to tempt Rovers into even considering a sale and it is unlikely any offers will reach that price.

The Congo international defender has previously talked of his desire to quit Blackburn Rovers and was even stripped of the captaincy by Steve Kean in the summer due to not being in the right frame of mind.
