HUNDREDS of people got to the core of the matter when they dressed as apples for an annual event in Ramsbottom.
There was apple-bobbing, the longest apple peel and “pin the maggot on the apple” in Nuttall Park.
Around 300 visitors went along to enjoy the second annual apple day organised by Incredible Edible Ramsbottom — a group which promotes homegrown food and sharing products in the community.
Children enjoyed making their own fresh juice in the apple press, and there were stalls selling apple treats and refreshments, as well as apple-themed craft activities, games and an apple fancy dress competition.
Around £400 was raised on the day which will go towards the group’s next homegrown food project.
Artist Joy Ladds, a member of Incredible Edible, ran apple-themed art activities for youngsters.
She said: “It was fantastic, we had a great day. It was nice to see the children getting involved, and for them to see the apples going through the press.
"It’s all about children having fun and understanding where food comes from.
"We are desperate for more people to get involved and join us so we can run more successful projects in Ramsbottom.”
