A ROSSENDALE mum who created an innovative online ‘swap shop’ as a lasting memorial to her father has raised £10,000 for charity.
Tania Jackson, 31, of Summerseat, set up a Facebook group ‘swap, shop or give away’ after her dad, Terry Howarth, was diagnosed with lung cancer in September, 2009.
He died on June 4, aged 65.
Now, following a number of online sales, raffles, and several charity event, she has presented her fourth cheque to Morecambe Bay Hospital Trust, which runs the Lancaster oncology unit which treated her father.
Tania said: “I got invited to a fundraisers’ thank-you meeting at Lancaster Hospital.
“The trustees of the hospital organised it to thank all their supporters personally.
“After the meeting I was shown round the oncology inpatient department to see first hand where my fundraising money would be spent.
“It was so sad seeing all the ill people in their beds receiving treatment, but nice to know that my fundraising will make a difference to them.”
