A car turned upside down and landed in a reservoir this afternoon.
Polcie, firefighters and paramedics were called to the water, close to Accrington’s Asda off Hyndburn Road, when the female driver became trapped at 2pm.
The woman, who remained conscious throughout, was rescued by Accrington firefighters who waded into the lake to attempt the rescue.
Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service say the woman’s grey Honda Civic had turned over onto its roof, trapping the driver within.
Firefighters had to wear life-jackets to carry out the rescue, and waded into the lake with cutting tools and rescue gear.
