A YOUNG mum who glassed her sister’s partner in the face after a family fall-out has walked free from court.

Jessica Hart, 21, her sister Clare, their mother and her sister's children were at her home and the adults had been drinking.

Victim Anthony Barrett had gone to collect the children because he was worried it was getting late and the youngsters were at school the next day, Burnley Crown Court heard.

In the trouble that followed Mr Barrett, who had been trying to get his girlfriend to go home and was annoyed, was said to have been aggressive towards his partner and her mother.

Hart believed he was going to be violent towards her.

The defendant was then said to have picked up the closest thing to hand, lashed out with it and struck the victim.

Mr Barrett fell to the floor bleeding and banged his head.

The defendant called 999 and the victim, who did not want his children to see him covered in blood, left the property and drove home.

Mr Barrett was later taken to hospital by ambulance and had five stitches in his face.

He had also suffered several small cuts, which were glued.

Hart, mother of a 20-month-old son, had admitted wounding, last September.

The defendant, of Duke Street, Colne, had no previous convictions.

She was given a community order with 200 hours unpaid work and must pay £250 compensation.
