AN engineering company is looking to build on recent contract wins by growing its own future talent.

Simonstone-based Fort Vale, a world leader in the precision manufacture of valves and fittings for transportation in the road tanker and tank container industries, is set to take on a new group of apprentices after securing a series of new international orders.

Andrew Bryce, director for innovation, said: “Because of the highly specialised nature of our work we strongly believe in developing our own talent pool.

“We are in the process of recruiting six apprentices.

"The company has always taken training seriously and we are delighted to continue our commitment to young people.”

The apprentices will spend a year with training and skills specialists T2000, before continuing their development on the shop floor.

Fort Vale has just taken part in a recent T2000 open day to celebrate their commitment to training.

Andrew said: “We currently have 27 apprentices at different stages of training and in varied roles.

"The excellent training and support provided by T2000 helps us to ensure that we have the right skills to meet the future needs of the business.”
