AN East Lancashire gastro pub has secured a new entry into the Good Food Guide — and two more have cemented their reputation.
The Freemasons Country Inn at Wiswell has been hailed by editors for its ‘lofty gastronomic aspirations and an underwritten mood of classy informality’.
Northcote Manor, at Langho, run by Accrington-born Nigel Haworth, was named in the guide for the 25th year running.
The Michelin-starred restaurant’s head chef Lisa Allen was recently declared the winner of the Great British Menu.
And a special award was given to Chris Johnson at Ramsons, in Ramsbottom, for his wine cellar.
Guide editor Elizabeth Carter said: “Chris Johnson has accrued an extra-ordinary and lovingly compiled cellar of wines from Italy’s regional vineyards.
"His knowledge, passion and sheer commitment show in every bottle.”
In the overall rankings Ramsons, in Market Place, is placed 46th, one of only three North West entrants in the guide.
