ALL five new shop units at the front of Darwen Town Hall are now officially open.
The project, which has seen traditional shop fronts reinstated to the historic town and market hall, was opened by borough mayor Karimeh Foster yesterday.
The new businesses include Bump to Baby, selling maternity and new-born goods, Topz ‘n’ Trainers, selling fashion clothing, and a traditional men’s barbers, Guise.
Former Darwen Market traders Deli Carlo and The Sweet Shop have filled the other two units.
The Heritage Lottery Fund provided £84,763 towards the cost of renovations which totalled £207,553. The remaining balance was met by Blackburn with Darwen Council.
Coun Dave Harling, executive member for regeneration, said: “I’m thrilled that all the shops are now open. The market square looks fantastic.”
