The Conservative Party comfortably held its seat in a by-election for Blackburn with Darwen Council today.
Julie Daley polled 1,097 votes with Labour challenger Ashley Whalley at 572.
The Liberal Democrat candidate, former councillor Salim Lorgat, secured just 51 votes.
The by-election was triggered after long-serving Conservative member Sheila Williams resigned due to ill health.
The result does not affect the balance of power on the council with Labour having a clear majority.
Polling stations opened at 7am and closed at 10pm.
