NORTH West Ambulance Service says a public consultation has revealed overwhelming support for its plans to become a foundation trust in 2012.

People were asked to comment on the trust’s vision and values, plans for the next five years, membership proposals and which organisations they felt should influence how their ambulance service is run between January 10 and April 1 this year.

It said findings from 330 feedback forms, available on the trust’s website, were ‘very positive and supportive’.

NWAS chairman Mary Whyham said: “It was found that most people support our plans to modernise and develop the service to ensure all patients receive the right care, at the right time, in the right place.”

Foundation trusts are still part of the NHS and subject to NHS standards, performance ratings and inspection system.
