THE retaining wall around Towneley deer pond is to be rebuilt by Burnley Council at a cost of £60,000.
Council chiefs said the existing wall and foundation had become unstable, and the pond was leaking on to Deer Park Road.
Winston Robinson, a senior council engineer, said: “The concrete foundation to the existing wall has failed over a period of time.
"The condition of the wall will deteriorate progressively at an increasing rate, resulting in a serious loss of water, affecting the habitat and wildlife.”
