THE organisers of Blackburn’s Race for Life have urged participants to make sure every step is counted by returning their sponsorship money.
More than 2,300 charity runners took part in Witton Park last month, with women, girls and even pet dogs completing the five-kilometre route in pink-themed outfits in aid of Cancer Research UK.
The donation record was smashed with an estimated £143,000 raised at the annual race, which is supported by Tesco.
Laura Taylor, Race for Life event manager for Blackburn, said: “Race for Life in Blackburn was a fantastic event and we are so very grateful to everyone who took part or supported our participants, as well as the wonderful volunteers who helped make the event happen.
“Now the big day is over, we are asking our supporters to take one last step, by returning the money they have raised so that we can go on funding much-needed research.
"Despite improvements in treatment, we still have a long way to go.”
