BLESSED Trinity RC College celebrated the achievements of its youngsters before they leave for the summer holidays.

Pupils from all year groups at Ormerod Road, Burnley, school were thanked for their hard work during a ceremony on Thursday evening.

Headteacher Bernadette Bleasdale thanked everyone involved with the school, including parents, for their support and congratulated everyone who helped raise £27,000 for the diocese.

The school received its Ofsted inspection report yesterday and notified parents of its findings. The report will be made public on Monday.

She said: “Many of you have known me for 19 years and after four Ofsted inspections I am not going to let you down.”

Burnley MP Gordon Birtwistle spoke at the ceremony and commented on a trip to the Houses of Parliamentin London where he had taken a group of students with school staff.

He said that the owner of a gift shop in the House of Commons said she had never met such well mannered young people.

More than 100 prizes from assessment grade certificates, subject awards to special prizes were handed out on the night.
